Local Guide

Welcome to our mini ‘top ten’ guide to North West Wales listing walks, beaches, Landmarks and Activities. We have included external web links for the best details of each of the entries, but at least one of us has done all of these so we can also provide some extra insight.

The distances quoted are approximate from Google Maps, the estimated driving time is with normal traffic and subject to occasional congestion, although traffic jams are very rare in this area outside of summer bank holidays, and even then are still unusual.

Walks

The walks we have added are all circular walks taking in some of the spectacular scenery in the area. This part of North Wales has mountains, beaches, lakes and waterfalls all nearby, and there are literally hundreds of walks to do here. This selection is our list of favourites, in no particular order (but I do like #1 the best!).

1. Beddgelert, Llyn Dinas, Sygun Copper Mine, and Aber Glaslyn

Walk: Beddgelert, Llyn Dinas and Aberglaslyn Pass, Snowdonia | Countryfile.com

The link above gives basic directions, the path is pretty clear for most of the walk. You can swim in Llyn Dinas, the total climb is about 350m. Beddgelert is a pretty town to start and end the walk in, with a nice pub and an ice cream shop! Whilst the town is busy, for most of the walk you will be on your own through the relatively quiet paths. This is our favourite walk in the area as it has a bit of almost everything, lake, places to stop for a swim, mountain pass, amazing views, ancient and modern history, a river valley path, and a cute village with pubs and places to eat. You may even see a steam train.

Distance from here 17 miles to Beddgelert (30 minute drive)
